Students from St Anthony's School, Alexandra Hills, are preparing to take centre stage this week as they join thousands of young musicians at the 2026 Queensland Catholic Schools and Colleges' Music Festival (QCMF), held at Villanova College, Coorparoo from 13 to 16 August.
Recognised as the largest music festival in the Southern Hemisphere, QCMF brings together talented singers, instrumentalists and performers from Catholic schools across Queensland and New Zealand. This year, students from St Anthony's will proudly represent their school community, sharing their passion for music alongside peers from more than 100 schools.
For St Anthony's Principal Peter Kerrins, the festival is more than a performance opportunity. It is a cherished tradition that strengthens the school's sense of community and celebrates the talents of its students.
"At St Anthony's, QCMF is a much-loved part of our school community and something we look forward to every year," Mr Kerrins said.
"It has become something that brings students, staff and families together through a shared love of music. We see QCMF as an opportunity for our students to showcase their talents, celebrate their hard work and experience the joy that comes from performing as part of a group."
The festival's ongoing success reflects the important role music plays in helping young people develop confidence, creativity and connection. For St Anthony's students, participation in QCMF provides valuable opportunities to grow as performers while creating lifelong memories with their peers.
Mr Kerrins said the school's continued involvement and success at QCMF is supported by the dedication of Music and Choir Teacher, Mr Paul Tyrrell.
