Frequently Asked Questions

Choosing a school is one of the most important decisions you'll make for your child. While every school offers learning opportunities, Catholic schools provide an education that nurtures the whole child academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.

At our school, your child will be known, valued and supported as an individual. We strive to create a welcoming community where students feel a sense of belonging, develop strong relationships and are encouraged to become their very best version of themselves.

Catholic education is grounded in values such as compassion, respect, service, inclusion and justice. These values are woven through everyday school life, helping students grow into confident young people who care for others and make a positive contribution to their community.

Prep students engage with the Foundation Year of the Australian Curriculum through a rich and engaging learning program that combines hands-on, real-world experiences with explicit instruction in the foundational skills needed for future success. In our safe and nurturing environment, children are encouraged to explore, investigate, problem-solve and make meaningful connections to the world around them, supported every step of the way by our caring and experienced teachers.

A strong focus on foundational literacy is embedded from the very beginning of Prep through the implementation of the InitiaLit program, an evidence-based phonics and literacy program that supports students to develop the essential reading, writing and oral language skills needed for lifelong learning.

Students also have access to our purpose-built Prep precinct, where they build confidence, develop friendships and establish the routines and skills required for a successful transition to Year 1.

Your child will attend the Shining Stars Pre-Prep Program. This provides students with opportunities to become familiar with the school environment, participate in engaging foundational learning and developmental skill experiences and build relationships with staff and peers before beginning Prep. Parents and carers will be given information about ways that they can support their child as they transition into Prep in 4 sessions. Also, all future Prep families are invited to an afternoon Play and Stay to build connections with other families and staff.

These experiences help children feel confident, connected and excited about starting school. Enrolled families will receive further information about these events and dates closer to the time. St Anthony's expects that all enrolled students attend these sessions with a parent or carer.

Our school welcomes enrolment applications for all grades at any time of the year.  However, for Prep we start conducting interviews in Term 1 of the year before your child starts school.  As offers can be determined by the date of application, you are encouraged to get your application lodged well in advance to give you the best opportunity of securing a position.

Enrolment offers are made after the interview process is complete. Timeline of offer will be discussed at interview time.

While St Anthony's School is a Catholic school, we are open to all families seeking a faith-based education in a welcoming and inclusive community. We celebrate the diversity of the families we serve and invite everyone to participate in and support the Catholic traditions, beliefs and values that guide our schools and enrich the educational experience of every student. Children who are baptised Catholic are given priority of enrolment at Brisbane Catholic Education schools.

Yes, on-site Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) for children up to 12 years old is available. This service is managed by Catholic Early EdCare. Click here to find out more.

Absolutely! In fact, the best way to know whether our school is the right fit for your family is to experience it for yourself.

We look forward to welcoming you and helping you discover whether our school is the right fit for your family.

  • A sibling of a current student of the school
  • A current student of another BCE Catholic school, other Catholic schools or Kindergartens managed by Catholic Early EdCare

Families are encouraged to review the BCE Enrolment Policy before submitting an application.
